The Yango Creek runs right through the property, and the walking tracks that follow it are the perfect way to spend a quiet morning. Here are our top picks.
The creek loop (30 minutes)
This is our most popular walk and the one we recommend to every guest. It follows the creek downstream through a canopy of casuarinas, crosses a shallow ford, and loops back through the lower paddock. The sound of running water follows you the whole way, and in the warmer months you'll spot dragon flies, water birds, and the occasional turtle.
The ridge trail (1 hour)
For something with a bit more effort, the ridge trail climbs up through the bush behind the property and rewards you with panoramic views across the valley. On a clear day you can see all the way to the Watagan Mountains. The trail is steep in places, so wear good shoes and bring water.
The orchard wander (15 minutes)
More of a stroll than a walk, this takes you through our small orchard — figs, citrus, and stone fruit depending on the season. It's the perfect after-breakfast amble, especially if you want to pick something fresh for later.
Tips for walking on the farm
- Morning is best — the light is beautiful, the air is cool, and the birds are at their most active
- Wear closed shoes — the creek crossings can be slippery, and there are the occasional sticks and stones underfoot
- Bring a hat and water in summer — there's shade along the creek but the ridge trail is exposed
- Keep an eye out for wildlife — we regularly see wallabies, echidnas, goannas, and a huge variety of birds
- Take your time — these walks aren't about fitness, they're about slowing down and noticing things
The farm walks are one of the things guests mention most in their reviews. There's something about walking alongside a creek, with nothing but birdsong and the rustle of leaves, that resets something inside you.
